The basic idea is to switch off "collect energy crystals" on your priority list, manually tell your rock raiders to pick up crystals, and drop them inside the protected area of your base. This is necessary because once you get 10, the slimy slugs come and then the difficulty level increases by a large amount. The crucial thing with this level is to never allow yourself to have 10 energy crystals stored. You should give half of your rock raiders weapons (or all if you collect enough crystals to have a couple of transport trucks). So it is best to get a small digger and dig the right hand side (east) wall. It doesn't matter where you drill, but be aware that there are rock monsters that will eat your crystals. Once you have done this, you can start drilling on a large scale. If your Support station is destroyed, you may run out of air before you can rebuild it.įirst build a support station, and then surround your base with electric fences. Note that your oxygen runs out *extremely* fast in this level. Slugs only start appearing when you've collected around 10 crystals, and Rock Monsters only start appearing when you drill into their caverns, thus you can take your time preparing your men and your base before the carnage begins. Since the level has a finite number of crystals in it total, it's possible to lose so many to the slugs and monsters that you can't win. The problem is that the level is infested with slugs and rock monsters, both of whom eat energy crystals - and when they do, that crystal's gone for good. In this level, your only goal is to collect 45 Energy Crystals.

'Potentially Unwanted' Crapĭad's new Acer PC also had actual malware in the guise of "potentially unwanted programs," or PUPs. So you may still be on your own to an extent, but there are ways around it. You may still have to go through the regular uninstall process, which-as we noted above-may be filled with tricks and traps to keep your new PC full of crap. The problem is, even though these utilities may point out some bloatware, they may not automate removal. With it gone, another option is the excellently named PC Decrapifier as well as Should I Remove It? It appears to have been discontinued, but at the time it kept a database of crapware and helped identify it on a new Windows PC. Tricks and traps abounded.īack then, I turned to Slim Computer from Slimware Utilities. We had to carefully look for the fine print on the dialog boxes that read "Delete Only" or similar. If we just wildly clicked where the button was, the uninstall might work-but something else got installed in its place. With many of the uninstall routines, the dialog boxes had giant buttons that would say "Uninstall and Get PC XXXXXX" or something similar. Mom tried to uninstall the obvious things, but they persisted. Opening up the Uninstall a Program control panel revealed even more in residence. The desktop was awash in at least 15 icons for needless, worthless crap. Using TeamViewer remote control software, I saw the system was a mess, yet all Mom had done was install the software for Dad's beloved (yet dying) Kodak printer. To get that price of $399, however, Acer sold out my parents and wasted hours of my family's lives to fix it. Hardware-wise, that Acer Aspire X (Model AXC-605G-UW20) they purchased at Walmart was sufficient. "Just go find an off-the-shelf for under $400, it'll be fine compared to what he's got," I told my mom (aka Dad's IT person in residence). I couldn't really recommend spending a lot of money to get it fixed. For example, a few years ago, my technophobic father, then age 75, got a new PC to replace his dying Windows Vista system, which he mainly used to print pictures. But in retail, it's a whole other world of crap. I'd never had major problems with crapware when buying PCs via mail order. If you want to create a maskable icon based on an existing icon, you can use the Maskable.app Editor. Open an icon, then Maskable.app will let you try various shapes and sizes, and you can share the preview with others on your team. To test your maskable icon with the variety of Android shapes, use the Maskable.app tool Tiger created. If your logo is visible within this safe area, you're good to go. Your icons will be trimmed so that only the safe area is visible. In the Icons section, you can choose to Show only the minimum safe area for maskable icons. With your Progressive Web App open, launch DevTools and navigate to the Application panel. You can check which parts of your icons land within the safe zone with Chrome DevTools. The important parts of your icon, such as your logo, should be within a circular area in the center of the icon with a radius equal to 40% of the icon width. Luckily, there's a well-defined and standardized "minimum safe zone" that all platforms respect. It's best not to rely on any particular shape, since the ultimate shape varies by browser and platform. Since maskable icons need to support a variety of shapes, you supply an opaque image with some padding that the browser can crop to the required shape and size. Maskable icons cover the entire circle instead. Firefox and Chrome have recently added support for this new format, and you can adopt it in your apps. If you supply a maskable icon, your icon can fill up the entire shape and look great on all Android devices. Maskable icons are a new icon format that give you more control and let your Progressive Web App use adaptive icons. Transparent PWA icons appear inside white circles on Android. Icons that don't follow this new format are given white backgrounds. Android Oreo introduced adaptive icons, which display app icons in a variety of shapes across different device models. If you've installed a Progressive Web App on a recent Android phone, you might notice the icon shows up with a white background. Acknowledgements What are maskable icons? #. Photopea plays well with major online storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive, but also includes its own Peadrive online storage. Still, Photopea is an impressive feat of web functionality, and if you prefer a more application-like experience, you can install it as a progressive web app (PWA) and export to a choice of 16 formats, including JPG, PNG, SVG, and WebP. It includes masking (raster and vector), layers, raw camera file support, text overlays, drawing tools, and even some of Photoshop's more impressive features like Subject Select and Smart Objects. Photopea resembles an online version of Photoshop, or perhaps more accurately, GIMP. I don't know what Kaspersky's exact wording is. Kaspersky should have a temporary disable option somewhere - "disable for an hour" or "until next restart" etc. For the average user, the newer versions of Windows Defender is perfectly adequate at protecting the system - although, you may want to supplement it with something like Adaware or Spybot to keep an eye out for more minor annoyances. The only use anti-virus has anymore is if you have a small child - or an extremely elderly person - on the computer who isn't using the best common sense as they browse, or if you are into some shady stuff that can be dangerous. (And in the rare case something bad like that DOES make it out into the wild, it ends up all over the news.) The outright "erase your entire hard drive" stereotypical viruses of the early computer days are almost non-existant now because they are so easy to catch, there is no efficient way to "hide" something that brutal and direct. Viruses now days are more along the line of advertising malware and browser hijackers, and can be coded in such a way that they're missed entirely by most scanners and actually require specialty software to remove. They are over-protective and cause more issues than they help prevent or fix because they interfere with legitimate computer usage. A bit of a tangent, but honestly, the mainstream anti-virus suites now days are borderline useless and are not worth the trouble. Here's our overview of all five plans, so you can easily compare the costs, features, and benefits of each.
